JAM Theatre

Since its beginning, in 1989, JAM Theatre has entranced thousands of children, adults and educators throughout Melbourne, Sydney, country New South Wales, Canberra and Adelaide.

Now based in midcoast New South Wales we perform our stories, run theatre workshops and camps for festivals and schools.

How it all Began

Back in 1989 Alice visited Collingwood Children's Farm in Melbourne and walked into the old blue stone barn.

What a perfect venue for a production of Charlotte's Web, the delightful story of a friendship between Wilbur the pig and Charlotte the Spider.

Alice was lucky enough to find a group of talented young actors who believed in the dream - it was a resounding success and JAM Theatre was formed.

By this time Graham had joined the team, contributing to the music and story and the concept was taken to Sydney, NSW, another success.

Working as a team, using scene and character improvisation, the group created and performed 5 new plays in under a year. Two of these being The Toymaker and I Believe in Mermaids.

We were helped by funding from National Parks and support from the Sydney Cove Authority at the Rocks, where we performed to sell out crowds.

Highlights have been perfoming at the Adelaide Zoo for the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Thredbo Summer season and the opening of Titbinbilla National Park ampitheatre.

After 3 successful years Alice and Graham left the city for the beauty and relaxation of the New South Wales mid north coast where they write and perform plays and stories and pass on their skills and love of story and theatre to young people children.
